The first task faced by DOCOMOMO Ibérico was to select and document a set of 166 works that constitute the DOCOMOMO Ibérico Register, published in November 1996 under the title Architecture of the Modern Movement. Iberian DOCOMOMO Register, 1925-1965. This work culminates the work carried out for two years by specialists in the territorial field that we are dealing with.
The publication of the Register is not only a historiographic work and a study of the architectural heritage. It also addresses a renewed look at the architecture and urbanism of the 20th century from a complex and contrasted perspective (…). The publication undertakes the task of presenting a wide and detailed graphic material and, at the same time, offers a critical approach. To this end, the multiple references have been organized into six areas: the beginnings of modern architecture; the city and the territory; public places and buildings; housing; commerce and industry; and leisure and tourism
The publication includes essays by Juan Antonio Cortés, Xavier Costa, Manuel Gausa, Manuel Mendes, Víctor Pérez Escolano, Antonio Pizza and Carlos Sambricio as well as graphic documentation of each of the selected works.
