Description

Fruto de un concurso de ideas organizado en 1973 por la entidad promotora, el proyecto supo dar una respuesta sutil y eficiente tanto al lugar, al momento histórico, al uso previsto y a la institución a la que iba a representar. El heterogéneo programa y la necesidad de versatilidad fueron resueltas con el empleo de una organización fragmentada, flexible y abierta al mismo tiempo. Su configuración eminentemente horizontal y la repetición escalonada de sus terrazas propiciaron una integración natural en el entorno, que se reforzó con una cubierta volada sobre la propia construcción. Una cuidada construcción, en base a tres sencillos materiales como el ladrillo, el hormigón y la madera, dotó al edificio de una dimensión cálida y próxima sin renunciar a la contemporaneidad deseada. La estructura fue utilizada de manera decidida como una herramienta de experimentación y expresión más. Junto a una rigurosa modulación inicial de 4 x 4 m, el empleo de un árido calizo en la elaboración de los singulares prefabricados realizados in situ con un acabado abujardado reforzó esa condición cercana y amable que el edificio sigue presentando hoy.
